about
Hi, I’m Jessica Compton—founder of Tree of Stars since 2017. What began as a simple mission to share my story and raise awareness around mental health and addiction recovery has grown into a vibrant, safe creative space for countless individuals seeking connection and healing.
Since April 2017, I’ve been peer-supporting in the community by running outreach events and sharing my journey, which I call “The A Blog”—Abandoned, Abducted, Abused, ADD, Addicted, Arrested. Every chapter brings new lessons, and I believe in honouring each step—both the struggles and the triumphs.
-
My background gives me unique insight into community care:
-
I graduated from the Correctional Worker program at Niagara College.
-
I have 15 years of experience as a Child and Youth Worker.
-
Since September 2013, I’ve worked full-time as an Educational Assistant, supporting young people in the school system.
Outside of advocacy, I’m passionate about creative expression and personal growth:
-
I love adventuring with my camera and capturing honest moments.
-
Journalling and “junk journal” techniques help me stay grounded—sometimes I get carried away mixing collage, paint, and ink!
-
Playing guitar and learning new instruments keeps me curious and inspired.
-
I’m always on the lookout for fresh ways to use art, writing, and music as tools for healing.

A Safe Creative Space
Tree of Stars is more than an organization—it’s a community built on gratitude, compassion, and honest connection. I firmly believe that when we share our stories and create together, we’re never truly alone. Whether you’re reading this page, signing up for a workshop, or ordering the book, please know that you’re welcome here. Let’s light up our stories—one page, one brushstroke, and one melody at a time.
